About the Role
As the leading UK children’s palliative care charity, Together for Short Lives has a vision that all children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions have as fulfilling lives as possible, and the best care at the end of life.
Together for Short Lives works with families and the brilliant people and services that support them – in hospital, in children’s hospices and in the community – to ensure that children with life-limiting conditions and their families get the support they need.
Now, with current Chair Dr Hilary Cass OBE stepping down from the role, the charity is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Chair to lead the Board in its next exciting phase. In particular, they are looking for:
- Someone who will bring an authoritative and respected voice to Together for Short Lives
- Someone who is passionate about what the charity does
- Has credible skills, experience, and knowledge of children’s palliative care.
- As a key ambassador for Together for Short Lives, you will have strong communication skills and be able to build relationships with our multiple stakeholders.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

“This is an exciting time to be joining the Board – we are in a period of growth, developing new and transformational programmes to develop children’s palliative care. Our recent success in securing a three-year charity partnership with Morrisons will not only generate significant income, but also presents a real opportunity to raise our profile and improve public understanding of the needs of children and families” – Sarah Talbot Williams, Vice Chair of Board of Trustees
As Chair of the Board of Trustees, you will be playing a critical role in the charity’s governance, bringing your expertise and experience to an organisation that truly values diverse and inclusive leadership.
