Founded in 1977 and led by Rita Rees MBE, Headway Bristol was only the third group of its kind in the country providing support to brain injured people. Now with over 40 years experience, this local charity is still helping survivors of brain injury to live fuller, more independent lives.
About Headway Bristol
Road traffic accidents, falls and accidents at home or at work are all major causes of acquired brain injury. As well as a profound impact on physical, cognitive and emotional health, acquired brain injury can affect behaviour and personality, putting relationships with family and friends under immense emotional strain.
Headway provides social and cognitive rehabilitation for adults with brain injury and support and respite for their families across Bristol, North and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire to maximise quality of life, independence and self esteem.
To continue delivering essential support to sufferers of brain injury, Headway Bristol are recruiting 3 new Trustees to join the current Board and oversee the charity’s governance. In particular, they are looking for:
- 1 x trustee with Social Care experience
- 1 x trustee with Financial experience
- 1 x trustee with Fundraising experience
Brain injury doesn’t discriminate; it can affect anyone. At Headway Bristol they want the governing board to reflect the same attitude through diverse and inclusive leadership and are keen to see applications from every demographic.
Exercise Your Leaderships Skills
With COVID-19 organisational change has been significant. Recently, Headway Bristol has begun to deliver support through a successful pilot programme of community based Hubs. By helping Headway Bristol implement these changes, you will:
- Exercise and develop your leadership skills and experience
- Support an organisation to look after the vulnerable members in our communities
- Help diversify leadership in the South West
While beneficial, no experience of brain injury is required.
