As the multi award winning organisation celebrates 10 years of transforming lives, Babbasa is looking ahead to another exciting decade of development and transformation. With your skills and experience, as the Chair of Directors you can help Babbasa inspire and support even more young people to pursue their professional ambitions

Babbasa formed in 2010 in response to the growing gap in the economic achievement of young people from some of Bristol’s most diverse and disadvantaged inner city communities. Based in the heart of the city (St Paul’s), Babbasa quickly developed a reputation for its capability to engage ethnically diverse and disadvantaged local young people and inspire them to realise their professional ambitions irrespective of where they live, their nationality, ethnicity, disability, gender, race, sexuality or faith.
Now, as Founder and CEO Poku Osei is awarded the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation Prize 2023 for building an innovative social enterprise, Babbasa is celebrating 10 years transforming lives and looking ahead to the next exciting decade…

Insider insights…
“Having been a young person at the organisation myself… I’ve been able to see firsthand the impact the organisation has had on the lives of those from disadvantaged communities. I’m honoured that I can now play a small role in helping others from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve their own aspirations. I can see an emerging generation of talent who believe in themselves and aren’t bound by any perceived limitations. They are determined to overcome any obstacles in their way with the support of the team” – Qazzally Ali, Operations Coordinator, Babbasa
“Becoming an Equal Opportunity Ambassador with Babbasa has added real depth of meaning to my professional life and has benefited me at least as much as my mentee. The sessions have afforded me the opportunity to reflect on my own leadership style. This has been really beneficial and ensures that, as leaders of the business, we continue to evolve our approach and ways of thinking. My mentee has recently secured an offer from the University of Oxford to study Jurisprudence, so that was a huge highlight! I’d encourage all to get involved” – Zahir, Mentor
